Vote to Save Lives this Election
Maine Gun Safety Coalition endorsements for the General Election
FOR RELEASE: August 11, 2026
PORTLAND – The Maine Gun Safety Coalition has rolled out its endorsements for the General Election so voters know which candidates align with the majority of Mainers on common-sense gun safety laws that save lives and protect Maine families.
“Last November we had to raise and spend more than $1 million because state leaders failed to pass a law that nearly two-thirds of voters supported,” said Nacole Palmer, executive director of the Maine Gun Safety Coalition. “We shouldn’t have to do that. There is a growing gun safety majority in our legislature, but it’s more important now more than ever that we elect champions up and down the ballot who will represent Maine voters, not the gun lobby.”
In addition to state legislative races, MGSC has endorsed Hannah Pingree for Governor, Troy Jackson for Senate and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree in ME-01. MGSC issued no endorsements in ME-02, as both candidates have made it clear they intend to cater to the gun lobby instead of the majority of ME-02 voters who supported Question 2.
Question 2 – the Extreme Risk Protection Order ballot measure – passed by 63% statewide, including in both congressional districts and in three-quarters of Maine State House and Senate Districts.
